COVID vaccine, link discovered with stroke and thrombosis, is an enzyme that causes platelets to aggregate – Study by Sapienza University (Italy)

The team demonstrated that in some patients, antibodies induced by the vaccine attack both platelets and leukocytes, causing the release of an enzyme, Cathepsin G, which binds to platelet receptors, promoting their aggregation.

A group of Italian researchers, led by Francesco Violi of Sapienza University of Rome, has identified the molecular mechanism underlying adverse reactions – such as stroke and thrombosis – associated with the administration of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
